Hector's Internship at DTU Wind

In his internship with the Wind Research Center and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Wind), Mechanical Engineering student Hector collaborated with senior researchers developing computer models that perform wind farm optimizations. This experience allowed him to utilize skills he had learned in his MIT coursework, while also learning information about a potential future career path in the wind energy field.

"MIT taught me to work in a deadline-oriented environment and strengthened my ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplined and cross-functional team. Moreover, my coding experience from 2.086 (Numerical Computation for Mechanical Engineers) allowed me come up with efficient techniques for solving the many bugs I created during my work. These skills were critical to my success in Denmark."

Hector particularly appreciated the balance between professional responsibilities and personal freedom, a major tenet in Danish culture. This work-life balance allowed him to use his free time to play basketball in the park, organize social events in his dormitory, and explore the Copenhagen area by bike.
