Global Seed Fund in the Middle East

Through an annual call for proposals, the fund primarily supports travel costs for exchange between a team at MIT and colleagues in universities in specific locations in the Middle East. Proposals are submitted collaboratively by MIT faculty along with faculty from a research lab in Israel and from one additional country in the Middle East.

There will be an option for international faculty and students to meet at MIT, or in another country in the region. If appropriate, we will also facilitate the opportunity for labs in the Middle East to host MIT students for follow-up research internships.

All general Global Seed Funds criteria, application, and evaluation procedures apply.

• Propose a balanced exchange between the MIT and international participants
• Demonstrate complementarity between the MIT and international teams
• Engage issues across borders and on a regional scale, including Climate & Sustainability (including food and agriculture), Global Health, Artificial Intelligence, and Social Impact and Entrepreneurship. 
• Foster collaborations between institutions that have not collaborated with one another in the past.
