Alicia Goldstein Raun is the Associate Director of MISTI, overseeing the the European and Eurasian Country Program staff. Previously, she served as the Assistant Director, where she oversaw the Global Seed Funds Program, Communications, and Data and Operations teams. Alicia is the founding Manager for the MIT-Spain Program and the MIT-Portugal Program. She is responsible for developing projects and building partnerships in Spain and Portugal with MIT students, faculty, corporate partners, academic institutions, foundations, and government organizations. Alicia manages MISTI Seed Funds with several Spanish partners and also established the MISTI Global Teaching Labs in Spain and Andorra, an initiative to bring MIT's unique approach to STEM education to high schools across Spain and Andorra.

Alicia studied abroad at the Universidad de Sevilla and Universidad Internacional Menéndez-Pelayo. From 2001 to 2007 Alicia lived in Madrid, Spain where she served as the Director for University and Academic Programs at Tandem, Escuela Internacional. She also taught business English to high-level executives and CEO’s at several multinational companies and institutions including Banco de España and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology. Prior to living abroad, Alicia taught Spanish in the Award-Winning Elementary Interactive Spanish Program in Massachusetts’ public schools. Alicia holds a B.A in Education and Spanish from UMASS Amherst and a Master’s in Education from Cambridge College.

Alicia has also served as the Program Manager for the MIT Portugal Program (MPP): Industry, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Initiative; a large-scale international collaboration involving MIT and government, academia, and industry in Portugal to develop education and research programs related to engineering systems. In 2020, Alicia received the SHASS Infinite Mile “Great Ideas” Award. Alicia enjoys yoga, running, cooking, spending time with family, and chasing after her twin boys.
